A good kids playhouse size depends on how many children will use it and the space available. Small, medium, and large playhouses all have a place in any garden, including yours. This guide will take you through the options for each category.
Different Kids Playhouse Sizes
In the sections below, we’ll look at the common options and how they suit different spaces and numbers of kids.
Small playhouses
Small playhouses measure between 4×4 ft and 5×5 ft. Inside, one or two toddlers or younger kids can fit at a time. The most common styles for this size range are Wendy Houses or single-storey cottages.

They also tend to be more affordable than larger options, which is useful if you’re working with a budget.
However, the main limitation of a small playhouse is its limited space. For one, there’s little room for extra features like slides, bunks, or climbing sections. But it should be enough for everyday play, imaginative games, or a quiet corner for a single child.
Medium playhouses
Medium playhouses give kids more room to play without using up all the garden space. Sizes range from 6×6 ft to 6×8 ft, which comfortably fit two or three kids.

Large playhouses

Keep in mind, though, that bigger doesn’t always mean better. This is especially true if the playhouse is too packed. Kids might lose interest, and it’s harder to keep an eye on them. Weight limits on elevated areas should also be considered.
